I have  airbrushed this little Phoenix with acryic paint, in colors  loosely based on the markings of a mocking bird. Yes, I know Phoenixes aren't usually this color, but  this one is  colored like smoke  instead of flame .

This sculpture is a  gypsum casting of an original sculpture. I based the body and legs  on my pet  peacock's shape,  the head and beak shape were based on  my cockatiel, with a little bit of Archeopterix  and Hoatzin .

He is a first casting of a piece that we will offer unpainted so that  folks can paint them in any way they think Phoenixes should be painted. He is about  7.5 inches tall (19 cm).

 His eyes are blue glass.

7.5 inches tall is pretty good size! I’m pretty excited about these guys, and looking forward to trying my brushes out on him. Do you have any shots from the back? I’d love to see how you worked the fanning pattern of the tailfeathers.
