A close up of the head. I made his forelock and mane curly to give him a Renaissance feel, and to support the ears! They would be too fragile in plaster to stand up alone.

It's a delight to see a well-made horse at Elfwood.

Oh, he's gorgeous!

Is there no armature within a plaster sculpture? *is ignorant*
In my sculptures I put wire pinning in the ears so they can stand alone.

:-) Melody Pena replies: "No, no armature in this, although I know some artists use them inside of plaster. This one and the replicas that will be made of it are just solid plaster, so it must be blobby."

His eye looks so bright and intelligent - you've given his face a lot of expression. I use silver beads on mine - I need to switch to black. The silver tends to creep people out!
It's interesting to see the combo of pony and perch. 12

Wow, you even did the vein under his eye . . . I have never seen this level of detail before, it's absolutely gorgeous.

I like that he’s more of a draft breed than your usual petite Pegasus.

:-) Melody Pena replies: "Right! I used our neighbor’s Percheron, Rose, as a model. I also used our pony, Moon . It is funny... they both have about the same proportions, though Moon weighs less than a third as much as Rose. The only real difference is the size of their feet. This Pegasus has pony feet."

I have always love your pegasus molds. They have a soft power about them as well as the kind and intelligent eye. You breathe life into them that is hard to match. I love the Renaissance look/feel to him (Leonardo would be proud), and the mixture of the breed characteristics is great!

WOAH!! That is BEYOND awesome! Other than a small shape-strangeness with the lips, it’s PERFECT!
