I just love pencil sketches.Do you agree that there is a warmth and freshness to a pencil sketch that just cannot be duplicated in ink?Why do we bother inking? This is a small drawing, it's one of ZILLIONS of drawings like this I've got in my files. It was cleaned up in Photoshop to remove the coffee and stuff that was on the background paper.I'm gonna try inking a version of this with the goal of keeping it as 'warm' feeling as the drawing.Rots of ruck.

Such a beautiful, warm and touching piece! The expression on the griffin’s face is so sweet (how DO birds smile??). But, you’re right, there is nothing that matches the warmth of a nice pencil sketch. Perhaps inking isn’t the answer for this one...maybe nice, warm pastels to keep that glow. Just a suggestion.

The only time I’ve ever gotten an inked sketch to look all warm and fuzzy is when I ink the lines in with calligraphy pen which can be bothersome due to ink stains. Maybe that will help some? Luck with the graphic novel!

LOVE IT. The gryphon looks like he or she could be fierce when they need to but now just wants to comfort this kid....lovely.

That is gorgeous, I love the interaction between them. Yay for sketches!

To me it doesn’t matter one bit!
Whichever technique you choose to use can still make wonders as long as you’re able to pass your emotions to the viewer. This piece is indeed one of your most emotional pieces on EW.
The warmth of this scene is absolute, and even though colors could have contribute to the understanding of your state of mind while sketching this, the flow of the lines and the griffin’s expression can fill that gap in no time.
Well done, on a fantastic job Melody 12

This reminds me of a book called Beyond the Divide, cant remember who by...but it was very good. About a boy who wakes up in a sort of parrallel world. And theres an Uber cool gryffin there...and well, i recomend it, if you like childish fantasy 1

i like how you have changed the mysterious griffin into a hugger that’s nice.

Sweet! I agree that sometimes the finished product lacks the life and feeling that the initial sketch had. Not always though. This is really cute and pretty! ^^
