Work in progress. This is the new 'Paw up' dragon. He, or she really needs a name . Any suggestions? I'm horrible at naming things! It is big! About 20 inches tall, and weighs a ton. (That is a hyperbole of course, she really weighs 32 pounds)

*edit : We have decided  that the name of  this dragon sculpture  is the " Secert Keeper". As soon as Elfwood completes the "modify" function for images, I will repair or replace this horribly photoshopped image. (Excuse: I did it on an extremely dark monitor!) I didn't want to take this image down and loose all the wonderful comments!

:-) Melody Pena replies: "I carve them with a fine little tool."

when is the last time you sculpted and do you have any clay left because i keep trying to get clay but its soooo expensive and dad wont pay child support

:-) Melody Pena replies: "I don’t have left over clay because I don’t sculpt right now. I am spending all of my time painting pieces ."

What kinds of tools do you use to make scales for the dragons?

:-) Melody Pena replies: "I use dental tools, and some custom made tools. The one I use most is shaped like a little claw. I use it to carve a clean line around the scale shape. I also use chisels, L shaped tools to scrape the surface, tiny files, and TONS of sand paper."

Is there *any* chance of any of the colors being reissued? I’m SO in love with the white ones!

:-) Melody Pena replies: "Sorry that I didn’t see this question until now!
We may issue any new dragon design in any of the old colors, such as white, but if a particular dragon has been "retired" in that color, they won’t be re-issued. I don’t think we ever made very many of this dragon in White ( if any) , so I don’t think it was ever officially "retired" in that color.

The scales look great! How long does it take you to make these? I mean with all the details colouring them ...

:-) Melody Pena replies: "I didn’t keep track of the actual hours my assistant and I spent finishing this dragon, but two years elapsed between the first clay and the finished sculpture."

This is absolutely stunning! The amount of detail boggles my mind! He/she is beautiful, I hope you’re very proud of yourself!

:-) Melody Pena replies: "thank you, I am! And proud of my assistant too."
