Tag As FavoriteComment		This is the Griffin family, complete with the Female and the new chicks. FINISHED! The large sitting griffins are two of the old "Brown Griffins",which are retired now, but I painted the new family members to match them anyway.

The original sculpture is made by making a mold of the clay original and then casting it in gypsum . I then carve and detail the gypsum with fine dental tools. These griffins are painted gypsum reproductions of sculptures I did this way.

:-) Melody Pena replies: "It is a long story... these are reproductions of my sculpture, so the actual pieces didn’t take that long to make , but the originals took a very long time!. Thank you for visiting!"

I love the chicks teenie tiney beaks and their stubby little tails, just beautiful. I would KILL to have one of these as a pet!!!
