Though that could be just due to his ’raw’ state. And he does look rather fearsome...or smug...one of the two....either way, he’s a looker (and it looks like he knows it!) Melody Pena replies: "The sculptures change allot during the process of refining. sometimes I like the rough original more than the finished thing. Thank you for the comment!" | |

| 28 Mar 2008 | Reddragon | Loading...can you do step by step tutorials on how you made it please Melody Pena replies: "This sculpture was made with a water based clay called "critter clay" clay. It was sculpted into this shape using ceramic modeling tools , hands, and mallets to pound it around. I started with full blocks of clay and cut the basic shape with a wire clay tool, then built the smaller details onto that basic shape. This clay dragon is not meant to be fired, so I didn’t worry about making it hollow. " | |

| 4 Aug 2009 | Alexa Lee Adamczyk | Loading...im used to making sculptures in an hour, not a week! i dont have any Tupperware big enough to put anything in. i got clay and 26gauge wire today! YAY!!! lol Melody Pena replies: "This scupture took two YEARS to complete! This is only the first version. " | |
| 4 Aug 2009 | Alexa Lee Adamczyk | Loading...how on earth do you make a huge lump of clay hollow? Melody Pena replies: "I don’t know how to make this one hollow. That’s the problem. We cast things that are straight with a ruber core which we then remove to leave a hollow, but this sculpture has an "S" shape that prevents the rubber core from being removed easily. It is a problem, because this sculpture weighs 32 pounds!" | |
