Had a peafowl as a house pet as well, until she started her first molt, then the feather mess got to be too much. She is outside now. The rooster tile isn’t too expensive...about six bucks plus shipping. Here is a link to the Cafe’ Press store http://www.cafepress.com/windstonestuff ( copy and paste it into the browser) Click the button on the left hand side that says "rooster stuff" to see it. Thank you for stopping by!"

It’s the little things that make a piece - the little feathers on the ground, the proud posture he’s in and the life in the eyes. You’ve captured life in this and it’s beautiful. Hopefully one day that dragon’ll give him his horns back. ;-) 18 Mar 2008 Celeste Saphira Rigelhof Loading...holy cow! how do you do it! ^_^ Melody Pena replies: "Elfwood comments are having problems-This is an mish mosh of several comments that somehow got put together, but thank you all!"

Do you eat funny stuff That’s mouldy and tough. Or lick an old garbage can? Well... Here’s how you get the Chicken Pox. Sleep with a Rooster in bed. Then one cold, dark night, You’ll awake with a fright, A Big Rooster Stuck on your head. © Arnot McCallum Melody Pena replies: "I wondered what the feathers in my hairbrush ere from, thank you !"

| 11 Jul 2009 | Tom Draco Noir Taylor | Loading...Just brilliant! Especially since you don’t do many paintings. Of course neither did Michelangelo if he could help it!We also are great rooster enthusiasts, and at one time had peafowl, pheasants and exotic chickens, my brother’s specialty. This one looks like an Old English, which we had. our best pet rooster was a Buff Cochin, and befriended our pet rabbit, which would roost on the deck with him. his name was Uzzy-buzz, since we had two, Uz and Buzz, but a fox got Buzz.. We also had some very gentle Arucanas. Melody Pena replies: "He does look like an Old English Game ( which I also owned at that time). This is because the board I painted him on was too short to have his tail sticking straight out behind him as a Jungle fowl’s really would, so I made him holding it up like an Old English. Artistic license. " | |
| 11 Jul 2009 | Tom Draco Noir Taylor | Loading... P.S.- Love the horn story and never heard it before. Did you know that Michelangelo did a sculpture of Moses with horns? The strange story behind it is that the Hebrew word for ’Glowing’(as in shafts of light) can be translated "horns!" When he came down from the mountain it says he was glowing- except some translations say he had horns! Quite a sight indeed. Melody Pena replies: "Oh yes I know that sculpture by Mic. He must of been scratching his head about how to show that detail. Horns generally aren’t considered as a symbol of virtue on religious figures! On Eastern figures (on creatures, anyway) they are usually considered to be royal or divine." | |

I can’t get over how much detail there is in this! I feel as though he’ll just walk right out of my computer screen. And it’s got such a lovely "old painting" feel to it with the brown background, love it!
