This is the prize for the July 2009 Windstone raflle.

He is a fledgling dragon test painted with a finish that reminds me of a "celadon " ceramic glaze. This painting method is difficult to use, however, because it forms messy  drips and puddles unless you are really careful with it. I held this piece in my hand and rotated it until the finish dried!

I have a raffle for a piece  like this for Windstone forum members about once a month.

If you are interested,  you are welcome  to join!

At first glance, I thought this was a copy of your PYO rainbow dragon, but now that I look at both pctures at the same time, I can see several differences. However, the resemblence still remains, details asside, between the two dragons and one of your baby griffins. Do you follow a general pattern for shapes, positions, and stances with your statues?

:-) Melody Pena replies: "They all have a coherent "look". That is intentional, since they are all part of a "line" of sculpture. The fledgling is an immature version of the older dragons, so he resembles the adults.
I guess the answer is yes, I do follow a loose formula. Thank you for the comment! "

do you get little crumbs when you gouge out the clay inbetween the scales? i hate that.

:-) Melody Pena replies: "Crumbs get cleaned off when I work in plaster. You could try a soft paint brush to smooth things out, or one of those rubber modeling tools; they don’t rough up the clay as much."
