Melody Pena replies: "It is hard to explain how this was done... I start with a piece of foil and then just go at it, squishing and tearing it till it looks roughly like what I want. I cheated on this centaur, and used some hot glue to hold his abdominal "stuffing" in place. You can still see the crack on his belly where the foil tore a little too much. Hot glue strengthens foil sculptures very well. I also compress and burnish the foil with smooth tools, in areas such as the hooves, so they are very hard and flat. It is easy to make foil sculptures balance, they just need fussing with to get the center of gravity over the feet. Thank you for the comment!"

I was inspired to make this guy because of my love for Donna Barrs "Stinz" , and your gallery of gorgeous centaurs!! I was going to make him playing a hurdygurdy, but I draw the line at trying to sculpt hurdygurdys out of foil. No, aluminum foil doesn’t need an armature. Hot glue is handy though. Thanks so much for visiting!"

I dunno how you managed to get the details and nice shapes with such a material, but you did a great job on it! Melody Pena replies: "I used pliers and hot glue! Thank you for the comment, Marika!"
