I only know a tiny bit of photoshop. If gimp is the same, it will take allot of reading to learn to use all the tools and stuff. " | |

| 5 Nov 2009 | Lucy G Bert | Loading...Wow, I love the feather detail and their eyes are so liquid and luminous! There aren’t a lot of hippogriffs around, which is a shame. Melody Pena replies: "I find hippogriffs very difficult to render. It is easy enough to make a griffin with hooves, but I want make them with horse-like faces. A Horse with a beak? Imagine the damage they could do to a barn! Thank you for the wonderful comment! " | |
| 23 Feb 2010 | Peggy | Loading...Dear Melody - This is a DIGITAL PAINTING? Omg I cannot believe this was done on a computer!! Truly remarkable and so lifelike! The feathers are so fluffed up at the chest, I want to pet them. So beautiful, brilliant - incredible; not enough words to describe them. I LOVE them! WoW! Melody Pena replies: " Thank you so much for the kind comment!" | |
| 11 Jan 2011 | Sam Adams | Loading...The lighting and detail is incredible, beautiful pic and i completely agree with Charlotte about the bone structure. Melody Pena replies: " Have you ever drawn Hippogriffs? I have a lot of trouble with the whole body shape. " | |
| 12 Jan 2011 | Sam Adams | Loading...I’ve never drawn one either...hmm maybe i’ll make that my next project ! | |
| 1 Aug 2011 | Debbie Perron | Loading...Hi! I really love how you blended the equine and avian features. The hippogriffs look more realistic, more alive! I’m curious, how would you draw their feet? Hooves, talons, or a combination of both? Melody Pena replies: "After careful consideration I have decided that hippogriff feet are totally impossible! So the way I deal with hippogriff feet is to never show a hippogriff standing up on all fours. I depict them rearing up, sitting or lying down. The front, eagle feet and the hind, horse-end simply don’t work together! How would you draw them??" | |
| 26 Aug 2011 | Debbie Perron | Loading...I thought of giving them cloven hooves like a goat. | |
| 27 Aug 2011 | Debbie Perron | Loading...Or, perhaps give them long fetlocks (like a Clysedale horse) to hide their feet. The fetlocks could be hair or feathers. | |
