This is a digital painting from scratch done in photoshop. It is unfinished, but I'll probably never finish it! I painted the one grey hippogriff , then copied the image and messed with the color and position of the head to make the golden one behind him. I could of made a whole herd of hippogriffs just by manipulating the one original  image! Photoshop is great, isn't it?

Beautiful! You don’t see too many pictures of hippogriffs around...and you did a great job in representing them. I especially love how you managed the texture in the feathers. Keep up the great work!

:-) Melody Pena replies: "Thank you! I don’t know what I am doing. There is so much to learn about digital painting!"

That is fantastic, how long did it take you? The detail of the feathers are fantastic, and I love the lighting. They have such a cute expression too, puppy dog eyes!

:-) Melody Pena replies: "Not very long! But one of the problem I have with digital stuff is that you can fix it... forever.. so I am never really done with anything!
Thank you for visiting!"

I really love how you combined the elements of the two opposing creatures that make the hippogriffs. They look real. The details are fantastic whether or not it is ever "finished."

:-) Melody Pena replies: "Thank you!"

:-) Melody Pena replies: "Photoshop is a universe of ways to do stuff...a simply amazing program.

i got gimp. but how the heck did you do that? tell us the tools! i have to make one like it... i dont know how to change the coloring or turn the head and stuff... whaaa lol

:-) Melody Pena replies: "I don’t know how to use "Gimp" but I’m sure there are lots of tutorials around!
I only know a tiny bit of photoshop. If gimp is the same, it will take allot of reading to learn to use all the tools and stuff. "

Wow, I love the feather detail and their eyes are so liquid and luminous! There aren’t a lot of hippogriffs around, which is a shame.

:-) Melody Pena replies: "I find hippogriffs very difficult to render. It is easy enough to make a griffin with hooves, but I want make them with horse-like faces. A Horse with a beak? Imagine the damage they could do to a barn!
Thank you for the wonderful comment!
